Underwater photography

With the introduction of digital cameras at affordable prices, underwater photography is becoming more popular with divers throughout the world.

Neutral buoyancy is an essential skill to master so as not to disturb the reef when manoeuvring to capture your subject. We recommend enrolling on a course to learn the basics before purchasing all the necessary equipment. Cameras can be rented from a number of our featured resorts and liveaboards, many of which are equipped with modern equipment and facilities to help review and edit your images.

Look out for specialist photographic weeks at resorts or on liveaboards to help improve your skills and dive with like-minded people. Get on board with the Siren fleet on one of their dedicated trips or spend a week at Buddy Dive Resort, Bonaire where you can rent compact and SLR cameras to learn new skills. Get involved with an annual event such as Stuart Cove's Shark Shootout, Bahamas, the Underwater Festival Shootout, throughout Australasia or take advantage of special workshop events.

Want to learn or improve your underwater photography skills? We can recommend taking a course in the UK with Ocean Visions, who have helped produce a number of award winning photographers in recent years.
Think you've got what it takes to be a prize winner? How about entering the annual British Underwater Photography Championship (Splash-In), organised by BSoUP.

Whatever your level you're at, happy snapping and all the best with that shooting!
