Take the #BetterBagChallenge

The 8th June is World Oceans Day. The theme of this year's day is Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet, with a focus on plastic pollution.

Our beautiful blue oceans gives life to our whole planet. They hold 97% of the water on our planet and produce more than half our oxygen. More than half the world's population live in coastal areas too, but we are doing a bad job of looking after them and the many animals that call them home.

Every minute, we use 1 million plastic bags worldwide. Annually, it is estimated that we dump 8 million tons of plastic in our oceans. Plastic has been found at the depths of the oceans and even buried in Arctic ice. It has been eaten by around 700 species of marine wildlife, with awful consequences.

It is time to change that. To celebrate this World Oceans Day, why not take the #BetterBagChallenge and commit to use no plastic bags for the next year? Together, let's make a difference!
