The Snaefellsnes Peninsula is a 90 kilometre stretch of coastline comprising a world of diversity, offering superb opportunities for whale watching and northern lights viewing.

The area includes Snaefellsnes National Park at its western most end, with friendly towns and villages, spectacular mountains, and a multitude of bird species nesting on treacherous cliffs. In particular, during the early months of the year, killer whales pass remarkably close to the shore near the fishing village of Grundarfjordur.

The area is particularly good for auroral activity too, so evenings offer the prospect of watching the Northern Lights from a spot where you can watch the display without any light pollution.
