ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge is centrally located in the small coastal town of Ponta do Ouro, offering easy access to the local dive sites where shark encounters are common place amongst the colourful reefs.
The small lodge is centrally located in Ponta do Ouro, just north of the border with South Africa. The rooms are comfortable and feature a double or twin beds, air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom with a shower. Facilities include a swimming pool with sun loungers and a furnished deck area; a great place to relax in the afternoon with spectacular ocean views. The dive centre is on-site. Complimentary WiFi internet access is available.
Booked on a bed and breakfast basis, there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The expansive beach is a two minute walk away and the town has a very relaxed atmosphere.
Transfer to the lodge is a two hour drive to Maputo or part of your itinerary if combining South Africa.
The on-site dive centre caters for all guests at the lodge and operates daily diving on the reefs of Ponta do Ouro, Malongane and Mamoli where an incredible and varied marine life awaits. It’s the variety of shark species that attracts divers.
The diving groups are small and each morning the boats are launched from the beach to explore the 20+ local sites. The majority of dives are drift and there can be some strong currents. In addition to shark encounters (bull, hammerhead, silvertip, leopard, tiger and more) expect to see reef fish, turtles, rays, game fish and dolphin here. Whale sharks and humpback whales can also be seen in season.
Diving this area is for advanced divers and the lodge only caters for certified divers. Average water temperature ranges from 25C (Sep-May) and 22C (Jun-Aug). Equipment rental is available and the centre provides 12 litre steel tanks (both valves). A 5mm wetsuit is recommended.
