Exmouth Diving Centre

Blessed with diving and snorkelling opportunities throughout the year, this PADI 5-star IDC centre is perfectly located for exceptional marine wildlife encounters on Western Australia’s North West Cape which includes Ningaloo Reef.

Located adjacent to the Potshot Hotel Resort, the centre offers a complete diver training service and daily boat diving. Diving is very much dependent on the local conditions each day and there are four custom built boats to meet everyone’s requirements, whether snorkelling, diving (all guided) or enjoying swimming encounters with whale sharks or humpback whales.

The wide range of recreational adventure diving includes sites in the Exmouth Gulf including Sponge Gardens and Bundegi Sanctuary, Lighthouse and VLF Bays on the northwest side of the Cape, the west coast and Muiron Islands (weather dependent and local charge incurred).

With over 220 different species of coral and no less than 500 species of fish to be found on the fringing Ningaloo Reef, there is a huge variety and abundance of marine life to observe. The dive site topography includes huge coral bommies, swim-throughs, wall diving, hard and soft coral gardens. Big marine life is common, but there are plenty of critters to look out for.

Marine encounter highlights here include three species of turtles (nesting from Nov-Feb), reef, nurse, leopard and wobbegong sharks, octopus, nudibranch and potato cod to name a few. For those who prefer their marine life BIG, you can expect to see whale sharks migrate from late Mar-Jul, enjoy manta ray encounters from May-Nov and humpback whales are regularly seen from Jun-Nov.

Visibility ranges from 5-25 metres and tanks are mainly fitted with a YOKE valve. The water temperature ranges from 24-28C in the summer months (Nov-Jun) and 20-23C in the winter (Jul-Nov). Nitrox is complimentary for qualified divers.

Exmouth Diving Centre is fully licensed to operate whale shark and humpback whale swimming excursions in season. Diving at the Navy Pier can be arranged by request.
