The 4 star Pondok Sari is a traditionally built hotel surrounded by picturesque mountains with ancient deciduous trees offering shade on the fine, sandy lava beach in north Bali.
Lying in the West Bali National Park on the uncrowded northwest coast, the resort provides access to the underwater delights of Menjangan Island, Secret Bay and the Coral Reef Project. The majority of the staff are from the nearby village of Pemuteran and the management supports the protection and conservation of traditions and original ways of life in Bali.
The property is surrounded by tropical gardens and three lotus ponds, features traditional architecture with incredible artistic detail and offers four room categories, including a villa. Transfer to the resort is a three hour scenic drive past rice fields, temples and small villages.
Werner Lau Dive Centre
Located on the beach, the dive centre caters for divers of all abilities, offering daily shore and boat diving as well as a variety of SSI and CMAS courses. There are four fibreglass dive boats available. Water temperature ranges from 26C (July/August) to 30C around Menjangan island where it can get a bit windy in the summer. Secret Bay,renowned as one of the best muck dive sites in the world, is a little cooler at 25C. Both DIN and INT valve 12L aluminium tanks are available here. Nitrox is complimentary for qualified divers.
Lying just offshore, the Coral Reef Project was established in 2001 and at 300 metres, is the largest bio-rock coral reef nursery and restoration project in the world. The artificial reef is easily accessible for snorkellers and divers can enjoy an incredible night dive here, full of macro life.
The steep colourful walls of Menjangan Island are reached by boat. You’ll find big fish as you drift along the walls and swim through the caves as well as plenty of life on the reefs and at Anchor Wreck.
