Located on the local island of Hanimadhoo on the Haa Alifu Atoll, Barefoot Eco Resort is a haven for those seeking privacy and a relaxing holiday in the remote northern atolls.

This modern 4-star eco-hotel features 20 beachfront (ground floor) and 20 ocean view rooms in two storey blocks of four. The comfortable rooms are creatively designed, spacious and all feature air conditioning, fan, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, safe and an elegant en-suite natural stone bathroom with shower. For those travelling as a group of friends or family, there are 12 affordable seaside rooms built in a single storey complex with a sandy inner courtyard, all with the same modern amenities. WiFi internet access is available throughout the resort. 

Situated within an almost untouched forest , the resort sits alongside half a mile of white sand beach and a stunning turquoise lagoon. Facilities include a beachside restaurant offering buffet style local and Mediterranean cuisine, juice bar, saltwater swimming pool, gym, non-motorised water sports, daily yoga, kayak tours, bicycles, a spa (Ayurvedic and classic treatments) dive centre and a boutique. The boat bar, the Black Pearl, is moored in the lagoon where you can enjoy a post-dive alcoholic beverage.

Transfer time is a 45 minute scheduled flight north of Malé.

Barefoot Dive Centre

The professionally run dive centre offers daily diving by traditional dhoni to a variety of enchanting dive sites including coral gardens, manta cleaning stations, thilas, walls, caverns, caves and the Filladhoo wreck which is a refuge for plenty of marine life. A full range of PADI courses are available to book.

As well as being the only divers in the area, your underwater highlights should include manta sightings, eagle rays, napoleon fish, grouper, turtles, schools of snapper and so much more. The nutrient rich waters and remote location offers a flourishing marine life in terms of corals and fish species.

Visibility is 30 metres on average and the water temperature a balmy 28C. Fluro snorkelling is offered and Nitrox is available.

Open lab sessions provide the chance to discover daily marine research efforts and get involved with the marine biologists in their scientific work.
